A heritage measured in centuries

The King’s School Canterbury began in the shadow of Canterbury Cathedral in 597 AD and has educated children continuously for more than fourteen centuries. Bengaluru is its first school in India, developed in partnership with The King’s School Canterbury and Vidyashilp Education Group. Canterbury gives the school its roots, its shared commitments and a wider King’s community to belong to. Bengaluru gives that heritage its own distinctive expression.

Learning built around the child

In the early years, children learn through purposeful play, rich language and direct experience, building secure foundations in phonics, reading, writing and mathematics without being hurried. The curriculum draws on the English National Curriculum and the traditions of a King’s education, aligned with India’s NEP and NCF. There are no high-pressure examinations. Teachers come to know each child through daily observation, conversation and their work — so every child is known, challenged and cared for.

A campus alive with possibility

Set across more than 2 acres in Yelahanka, the campus is designed entirely around children aged 3–7. A morning here might begin with a story in the library, move to the raised planter beds of the Nature Learning Garden, and end at the water and sensory play court or in an outdoor classroom under the open sky. Eighteen classrooms and specialist spaces, a music room and an on-site clinic complete a school built for young children — not scaled down from an older one.

The Founding Generation

In August 2027, The King’s School Canterbury, Bengaluru opens its doors for the first time — and the children who walk through them will be among the first King’s Canterbury pupils in India.

A school’s character is formed by its earliest families: the founding generation will shape its traditions, its culture and its daily life from the very first morning. The school will grow with them, from the Yelahanka campus through to a complete K–12 journey at the future 50-acre Century One World campus, each new year group added as its founding pupils rise. The school is forming its founding generation now.

Yes. The King’s School Canterbury, Bengaluru is being developed in partnership with The King’s School Canterbury and Vidyashilp Education Group, and is Canterbury’s first school in India. Canterbury connects the school to an educational tradition stretching back more than fourteen centuries and to a shared commitment to scholarship, character and the development of the whole person — roots, perspective and a wider King’s community to which Bengaluru belongs.

What curriculum does the school follow?

King’s Bengaluru follows its own distinctive curriculum: the traditions of a King’s education and the English National Curriculum, given their own expression in Bengaluru and aligned with India’s NEP and NCF. What year groups open in August 2027?

Four entry points: Nursery (ages 3–4), Reception / LKG (4–5), Year 1 / UKG (5–6) and Year 2 / Grade 1 (6–7). New year groups are added each academic year as the school grows with its founding pupils, through to a complete K–12 journey at the future 50-acre Century One World campus.

What is the fee structure?

Fees reflect the standard of a King’s Canterbury education: a purpose-built campus designed for young children, carefully selected teachers and the depth of a fourteen-century educational tradition. Will the curriculum be recognised if we relocate internationally?
